Letter from The President

Dear Colleagues,

The President Prof. Dr. Kemal ArıkanI am Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kemal Arıkan, a psychiatrist with extensive experience in clinical neuroscience, having completed my training at esteemed institutions such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), NYI into Contemporary Medicine, affiliated with Albert Einstein Medical College, Bakırköy Mental Health Hospital, University of Fırat Elazığ and Cerrahpaşa Medical School.

I have been an active member of ECNS since its founding, and throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to advancing psychiatric practice through neurophysiological research and education. Currently, I am running the Kemal Arıkan Psychiatry Clinic in Istanbul and actively contributing to the field through my work and academic involvement.

As the incoming president of ECNS (Clinical EEG and Neuroscience Society), I am excited to share with you our new mission and vision. Since its first establishment, l have witnessed the growth of our society, and I greatly value the friendly atmosphere and scientific collaboration we have encouraged among members. It is my sincere desire to continue enrichment of this spirit of friendships and cooperation within our community.

Our Missions:

  1. To increase ECNS membership and extend scientific collaborations and knowledge sharing to a broader audience. New members will strengthen our collective expertise in neurophysiology and contribute to a more impactful presence on the international stage.
  2. To promote greater interest in the use of electroencephalography and other neurophysiological methods in clinical practice. These techniques are essential to improving the quality of care we provide to our patients.

Our Vision:

We believe that neurophysiological methods are essential for advancing our understanding of brain function. Techniques such as EEG, ERP, and sleep EEG play a vital role in deepening our knowledge of psychiatry and psychology. At ECNS, we aim to raise awareness of these tools and promote their integration into clinical practice scientific endeavors.

I invite you to join us in contributing to this vision and helping us grow the ECNS community. Together, I am confident that we can achieve more significant and beneficial outcomes in our field.

Thank you in advance for your support and contributions.

Best regards,

Prof. Dr. Kemal Arıkan
President of ECNS
